Dusty Doomsday

Short film | post-production

“Dusty Doomsday” is an urban fantasy about Schwamme Jr. – a perfectionist inventor living in sterile isolation, haunted by his father’s legacy as the creator of the sponge. When a construction crew arrives to relocate his house, his obsessive order collides with outside chaos, triggering a surreal chain of events that forces him to confront the futility of control.

Latvian National Film Award

Nomination | Best Short Film & Best Cinematographer (Aleksandrs Vasks)

The film is an urban fantasy about the fear of change and the illusion of control, told through a highly stylized, wordless cinematic language. By embracing fantasy, humor, and physical comedy, the film aim to portray perfectionism not only as a psychological trap, but also as something fragile and absurd. The protagonist’s attempt to isolate himself from dust and chaos becomes a metaphor for escaping imperfection and the outside world, until that fragile order is inevitably broken.
